Enlistment

Wow the time that I have always regarded as a distant event is finally here. I’m enlisting tomorrow! Gosh. I’m having a whole load of emotions running through me. I guess it might sound silly and gay cause I’m only staying there for 8 days until I get to go home for Good Friday but I guess the whole enlistment saga is significant for me as it marks a whole new chapter of my life.

I haven’t even enlisted yet and I’m already missing my family. Haha. There won’t be a day that I won’t think of them. I am confident of that. I guess I really owe a lot to my family especially my parents who never gave up on me. Never did they stop believing in me even when I was really bad last time getting complains from teachers, getting lousy grades in school and even being insolent to them. I thus can safely attribute a large part of my current success to them. In the past, I was always upset about my life and wondered why I had to have my parents nagging at me. Today, I am so thankful that I am blessed with such wonderful parents as well as siblings. I also will not forget the great friends that are an essential part of my life.

I am going to give my darnest best for NS. Whatever shit that gets pushed at me, I am going to overcome it and persevere. I’m going to push myself and stretch my limits. I am going to work to get selected to go to OCS. Most importantly, I will also remember to perform my duties as a Muslim and not to neglect my religious responsibilities.

Here is an extract from “Boy Meets Tekong; NS Guidebook for Muslims.” Thank you so much to the good people behind the making of the book. I shall adopt it as a personal motivational extract for me. It really emphasizes what I strive to do for NS.

We know how long the road will be
And how heavy the load will be
