3rd book out

Its me posting here again which is a good thing cause it means that I've booked out! :)

The week has actually been much more easier then the first week. The activities are actually generally easier and I'm coping well with the change in environment. I'm now a current holder of a green 11b instead of my IC. I'll only get to see it again once I've completed my NS. I shall miss it lots but I look forward to the day that I receive it again and revert back to being a civilian. And yes, I did kiss my IC before I handed it over.

I'm sick! Arghhhh! Ok not sick as in perverted but physically sick. I came down with the flu. I guess its both good and bad. Firstly, its good that I have time to rest and allow my body to recover. Despite this, I had to miss out on 2 close combat lessons which I find to be really cool and of course I had to deal with the feeling that others might perceive me as a slacker.

After I book in this Monday after my interview, I have another on Thursday. Sat is the field camp which everyone has been dreading. 7 days in the jungle with chemo cream on one's face at all times. Not a good situation. I just pray that it doesnt rain heavily. The last day of the field camp is my interview. It is of course challenging to go for an interview after spending 6 days in the jungle but I am grateful to god for the opportunity. I felt like crap initially when I thought I couldn't go for the interview and test due to the policy that recruits are not allowed to book out for whatever reasons during field camp. A lot of thanks goes out to 2nd Lt Cheng who spoke to the OC and of course Zaf for listening.

Arghhh. Lots of work to do man. Preparing for interviews is serious work.

NS!

Aiya damn irritating. I had just typed a damn long entry about NS and I accidentally deleted it. Damn.

Ok anyway I'm out of Tekong after 7 days thanks to good friday. Well, the training has not been EXTREMELY tough so far. I admit that it was very very hard for me to adjust innitially. I was quite stressed up as
  1. The environment was dramatically different from my normal civilian life. I had to obey instructions and do everything quickly.
  2. I was placed in a direct leadership batch which means that everyone has achieved at least a silver for NAPFA and that we were being trained to become leaders in the army. The standards and expectations of us are therefore higher. I was damn stressed when I couldn't find even one person who has a 2.4km timing anywhere close to my 12 mins.
  3. Being away from the people I am close to.
  4. The people in my company are quite different from my personality.

Despite this, I believe that I am gradually adapting to my recruit life at Tekong. I should be thankful for several stuff.

  1. I am back in civilisation today after 7 days whereelse many usually only get to do so after 2 weeks.
  2. I get to skip 2 weeks of PTP training cause of my silver in NAPFA.
  3. I have a higher chance of becoming an officer or a specialist.
  4. I already knew how about drills while others had to learn them the hard way.
  5. I am in a much less regimental company as compared to the one in front of my block.

No matter what, I must focus and not lose hope. Thousands have trodden the path that I am currently walking on. I thus will be able to do it and even excel in it. Faith and prayer will guide be through and keep me strong despite and difficulties that I might face. I am gunning for a place in OCS and nothing else.

I guess NS has also made me see things from another perspective. I realise that I need to treasure the people around me more. As the saying goes, "You don't know what you've got till its gone". So take care people and pray for me. I will do my best.

Where the hell is the NUS letter!? ARGHHHHH.

Enlistment

Wow the time that I have always regarded as a distant event is finally here. I’m enlisting tomorrow! Gosh. I’m having a whole load of emotions running through me. I guess it might sound silly and gay cause I’m only staying there for 8 days until I get to go home for Good Friday but I guess the whole enlistment saga is significant for me as it marks a whole new chapter of my life.

I haven’t even enlisted yet and I’m already missing my family. Haha. There won’t be a day that I won’t think of them. I am confident of that. I guess I really owe a lot to my family especially my parents who never gave up on me. Never did they stop believing in me even when I was really bad last time getting complains from teachers, getting lousy grades in school and even being insolent to them. I thus can safely attribute a large part of my current success to them. In the past, I was always upset about my life and wondered why I had to have my parents nagging at me. Today, I am so thankful that I am blessed with such wonderful parents as well as siblings. I also will not forget the great friends that are an essential part of my life.

I am going to give my darnest best for NS. Whatever shit that gets pushed at me, I am going to overcome it and persevere. I’m going to push myself and stretch my limits. I am going to work to get selected to go to OCS. Most importantly, I will also remember to perform my duties as a Muslim and not to neglect my religious responsibilities.

Here is an extract from “Boy Meets Tekong; NS Guidebook for Muslims.” Thank you so much to the good people behind the making of the book. I shall adopt it as a personal motivational extract for me. It really emphasizes what I strive to do for NS.

We know how long the road will be
And how heavy the load will be
We know about the barricades that lay along the way
But we’ve set our goals ahead
And nothing from hell to sky
Shall turn us back!

Ok so I'm going to NS this Sat and I was switching to my spare 8250 phone coz they dont allow camera phones. When I saw that blue backlight light up, I was awed man. It was was like that moment in time when I first had the 8250 back when it first came out. the 8250 is sweet!
