I had my NUS law interview on Saturday and it was by far the toughest interview that I have ever went for. It's difficulty far surpassed last year's NUS law interview. The issue that was brought forward was that of the conflict between morality and the practical implementation of the law. I did manage to argue my points without showing much hesitation but the professors attacked my answers at every turn at which of course I argued back again. All in all, it was a longer than average interview due to the constant comments from both me and the professors.

The NUS law written test this morning was conversely much easier than the one I sat for last year. It was on the child's rights to play and leisure. Think it went quite ok with the exception of my hurried and thus untidy handwriting. The arguments and evidence provided should more than suffice.

Pray, let me can accepted into NUS law this year. I have doubts about applying for it again next year if my application is unsuccessful this year. If anything, I would just accept SMU's faculty of law and maybe go into corporate law. Thats where the money lies after all.

this might be a tad out of the blue but...

I GOT INTO SMU SCHOOL OF LAW!!!!!

but I'm still going for this weekend's interview and written test for NUS law just to keep my options open. Hahahhaa

20th birthday

today was pretty much the quiet birthday that I had planned. A big thank you to those people who wished me at 12 midnight itself. I think it was Azni, Cheryl and Khai. As usual, I must be doing something right as they are all girls. Haha. Thanks anyway lah. It was a very nice gesture.

Went to camp and got congratulated by Photon, CPT Darren, Alven, Sathya and got more smses from people like Zaph, Shahera, Syafiqah. Took half-day off and left after lunch to meet Azni who wanted to pass to me my present. And I was damn surprised lah. It was like this big bear and a topshop wallet. Haha. Took my passport photos for my law interview at Clementi and went back after that.

Me and my family went to Arnold's for dinner (my choice of course). I like that place you know? Its not that expensive and the food is good. Plus I've been there almost all my life. Its a wonderful place. Went back had had chocolate banana cake from the Royals which is as usual wonderful cause the cakes there rock. They are like yummy, soft yet firm and not cloyingly sweet like the other cakes from other places. Anyway I got the new Gillette Shaver from my dad and younger sis as well as a superman t-shirt from my elder sis. My mum provided the cake. I'm pretty happy with this year's bunch of presents lah. It might not be expensive stuff which I asked for in the past but this time, they are just useful stuff which I'm sure I will use often. Anyway here are some of the pictures.

Only remembered to take a picture of the cake after half was already devoured. Haha.

wah damn shagged. woke up at around midnight and when with boon to jastyn's house area to play soccer. yes i played soccer so shut up. Actually, I improved quite alot. As in I scored like 5 out of the 8 goals? Hahaha. Went back home at about 4.3oam, took a quick shower and guess what?

Woke up at about 7 to pray and stuff. Managed to get a few winks of sleep till about 8am after which I washed up and got ready to meet the mendaki ledang people at Macritchie at 9am. I was late! Haha. Tot it was going to be a simple short hike but it was actually quite tiring cause we went the long, god-forsaken way all the way to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Went for lunch at Al-Ameen and went back after that.

Gosh I didn't know that Macritchie and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve were so close to each other. Also I did't know that my camp was so close to that area. Interesting

My life basically revolves around army and mendaki for now especially the latter. I've been spending my night's out and weekends on mendaki only. For example take this week.

Wednesday Night's Out: Went for Mendaki's Gunung Ledang Meeting

Saturday: Mendaki for counselling course and to check, prepare medical stores as well as bring them back in preparation for the next day

Sunday: Recce at MacRitchie for Mendaki's Ledang Quest

Right now, I'm preparing the minutes of meeting for Wednesday's meeting. Sigh. Even though I enjoy it, now it does seem a little overwhelming.

Anyway just for fun, here a picture of how I was a victim of a mosquito attack.

Ohh birthday is in 4 days time!

Whoa I just woke up after sleeping at about 9pm yesterday. Was super shagged man. Let me explain why.

Tuesday-Thursday: FIELD CAMP

Come to think of it, that was my 6th field camp so far. I'm a seasoned jungle man. Haha. Anyway, it was fairly ok lah except for the last night. Can't really elaborate what happened but lets just say that I sleep at 3am and I woke up at 4am.

Friday: ORD PARADE

Ok fine it wasn't MY ORD parade which was rather unfortunate. But it was really nice lah seeing the guys after their parade. Everyone was jubilant and stuff. Can't wait for that feeling in 9.8 months.

Saturday: MENDAKI MENTOR OUTING

The meeting time was super early lah so I had to drag myself out of bed. We went to Sentosa's Pahlawan beach. Had beach games which was very fun and also super tiring ah. I was embrassingly out of breath for the first captain's ball game cause I was running around too much. Dammit I should excercise more. Lunch provided was fantastic. Especially the kebabs. Kebabssssssssssss! We had a sandcastle building competititon after that which if I may add, my group won. Haha. How spastic. We ended off by having a little anonymous positive re-enforcement thingie whereby the first group would be sitting in front with their eyes closed and the second group would be behind and they would whisper positive traits which they feel are present in the person that they choose. Anyway because I am so thick-skinned, I shall share what I got. And to my dear readers, DON'T ACT AS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ALSO. HAHA. I got 3 so here goes.

  1. You're friendly, hardworking.
  2. You're cute
  3. You're cute

Hahahaha. Guess the trip was worth it.

Just watched "A Walk to Remember" on TV just now and I think its a wonderful show. Not many people know this but I really dig sappy love flicks. Haha. I guess the movie appeals to the idealist side of me. Mandy Moore is also wonderful on those high notes and her sounds are just melodious.

Spent the morning at JB just now where me and my family went to the "Pasar Tani" market and to City Square after that. Ran into Cik Zainal and Cik Leha there. Wow haven't seen them in such a long time. Anyway I had lunch at this stone grill-like place and its was really cool cooking the salmon on the hot stone. Haha. Childish lah but still nice anyway.

Anyway, slept after coming back and dragged myself out to pray and also complete my first aid-kit list of materials which I want to bring for the Gunung Ledang trip. I couldn't help but get quite excited over it. It's like a medic's self-customised dream kit. For the sake of you people who might want to make their own complete first aid kit, take a look at mine.

My grandfather passed away on the 31st of March. I guess I was the first person to realise that he had passed away after I checked his pulse and breathing. His death was uncommon to me as I'm of sufficient age to grasp the concept of the fragility of life as opposed to me seeing deaths as a kid and yet being unperturbed by it. One can't feel fear if he is not accustomed to it. Anyway, thanks to all the people for their kind counsel, condolences and well-wishes. It was very much appreciated.

Anyway on a brighter note, my unit had a movie outing to watch 300. FREE. For some reason or another, I was mesmerized by the sign at the entrace of the cinema on which it was written, "WELCOME 6SIR". Amazing. About a thousand 6SIR Spartans, watching a movie regarding 300 Spartans. How cruel the irony.

Field camp next tuesday till thursday! Oh damn.
