i wanna shit

I literally wanna shit! I am however waiting for Ishak first. Thats like another 20 mins more.

I wanna shit!
I wanna shit!
I wanna shit!

Hmm I realised that I had that feeling of wanting to shit since morning. Oh well.. Lets change the subject shall we?

I went to the Istana just now. They were open for some reason or another. Its no big deal actually. The line was really long and when I finally arrived inside, I had to walk a long and winding road *hums* before actually reaching this mansion-like building where I had to pay another $2 to enter to see like those souverniers and gifts that Singapore received from other countries. Oh and I got to watch band performances by some schools. Free music!

Kids, go find out about StarHub Game Player. I have no idea how I found it while nevigating at starhub.com but its really neat. Ok basically, they give u like a catalog of games which you can play unlimitied times for like $10 a month. Thats quite reasonable ain't it? Hush now. I'm a spy/assasin Agent 47 (I think) in the game Hitman.

On a another totally unrelated note, I realised that I don't really dig teaching that much after my few days of relief teaching at X Sec School. Ok fine. Maybe its too short a stint to base a judgement on and maybe its much better if I do actually teach instead of just asking them to do their own work. I can't really do that when they assign me a non History or English class can I? Conversely, I heart my office job at Insead. The people there are so friendly. Ok fine usually I'm quite critical of Western values and stuff but I guess when I saw an Ang Moh greeting the elderly cleaner without any hint of snobbery or contempt, going on to ask how her day was, I changed my mind. Its kindda hard to imagine that being done by locals. I admit I dont usually do that myself so maybe I'll try to take it a step at a time. My office job is quite to my likeing though. Could it be MY CALLING??

Ok I wanna shit!

CNY!

Holaaaaaaaaaa! Its the dawn of the weekends yet again. This time its an especially long one cause
  1. Its CNY!
  2. I wont be working anymore for the rest of this week

Guess its finally time for some R&R. I think I'll be treating my family to dinner/lunch tomorrow to Breeks or something. I'm in an especially happy mood today. Work was great today. There was like two birthdays with cakes and all. It was really nice to see the smile and shock on someone's face especially when a cake and drinks come as she was doing some work in the meeting room. What essentuates it is just the whole friendliness of everyone.

Today was supposed to be my last day but I'll be working for two more days next, next week. Gosh. I'm going to miss working at Insead. Its like a dream holiday/temp job. Oh and yes I got a pay raise! I'm not going to say how much I've earned for this month but lets just say, I've surpassed my initial target. Alhamdullilah.

To anyone celebrating CNY, heres to a festive holiday!

new work-mates and free muffins

I dont really know why I even bother to blog when the title pretty much says it all.

Work has been quite interesting. Made new friends with Hafiz, Audrey and another girl who just started today. Definately not the stereotypical boring office colleagues. Its starting to get abit routine though. I was just staring at the com for the last hour. Ok fine thats an exaggeration but I didn't get much work done during the last hour. Despite that, I did finish quite alot of work today. Contradictionary eh? As in usually I finish about 70 profiles a day and today it was about 90. So anyway, my job has been extended to Friday. Wohoo ?

Went with Nick after work to go to spinelli's at Raffles place to look for his friend. Thankfully the shop was closing and God showered his blessings on me though Nick's friend, Maryanne (or however you spell it) who provided me with free muffins as they were closing. Haha.

Ok I'm going for a networking course tommorrow. Wish I could join the class to go visit Gordon but I already signed up for it earlier. Bummer.

Data entry

Freedom! From my tuition job that is. I'm getting my pay next Thursday! Cash is always good especially if its from one's own hard work. Anyway I'm currently doing a temporary week-long data entry job introduced to me by Nick. I must say that IT IS THE BEST JOB EVER! The place is really clean, the floors are carpeted, I have my own cubicle and computer. The boss is also really nice. She treated me and Nick to pastries halfway during work just now. Oh yes and of course my favorite place in the entire workplace, THE PANTRY! It has like a hot drinks machine where all I have to do is press a button and viola! Instant milo/expresso/cuppacino and whatnot. Its free too! THE PANTRY is also my place to slack during my breaks. Its almost like my second home and I love it lots.

Nick and me relieving our stress in the oh-so-clean toilet.

After a long day of work, Eunos estate just makes me smile again

Relief teaching

YESTERDAY's entry : 12.01.2006

10.28pm:
Wanted to blog but I predict that I would be tired and busy by the time I reached home so here I am on the train at CCK on the way home. Work was ok as usual although I am beginning to dislike the idea of working all the way from early morning till late at night. The pay is however so sad that the only way to even have hopes of reaching 500 bucks is to work longer. I guess I can also be contented with the fact that I work only 2/3.5 days a week.

Lets go back a day.
7.37am:
My loud ringtone jolts me out of my sweet slumber. It was X secondary school and they asked me to be a relief teacher for a day. AT LONG LAST! Haha. I found out later that the transport system really sucks in the morning. Waited in vain for a bus/cab for a good 20 mins before deciding to just book a cab.The result? I ended up at the school at 8:30am with the clerk exclaiming "Wah so late ah?"

As fate would have it, my first class was 4E2 and it did remind me of my old class to some extent. Ok long story short, relief teaching was a really good paying job(provided you work for at least 5.5 hours) and of couse while there was the expected troublemakers, there were also really nice and sweet kids. I spent lots of time talking to the kids that were sitting in front of me. Haha. They asked for my e-mail address to add me to msn and friendster. They are even going to challenge me to gunbound. Haha. I have a picture of them but I can't put it here cause I had to sign a contract of strict confidentiality. It was overall a very good experience and it was especially memorable tonwalk into a class for the first time and having your students go "Wah so handsome ah?" several times. Haha

Btw its now 10.55pm and I 'm still at Redhill and I've been typing at the PDA all the way. That’s how slow it takes to type stuff.

TODAY's entry: 13.01.2006

Amazingly, X secondary school called me again this morning. Again, it was another mad rush to get ready. Called my dad first and we reached there at 8.05! Hahaha. Today was so much better, the kids were more well behaved and I was more relaxed. Yay for cash inflow!

thou shall be nice to kids

Hellohello! Damn do I have a lot of things to say. Lets go day by day shall we?

Tuesday

Went for the factory job thing with optimism. Our agent was friendly enough and the rest of the people who signed up were mainly mats(friendly though). It was relatively simple. All I had to do was
  1. Take the handphones out from the box
  2. Place em in trays
  3. Place the IMEI sticker on em
  4. Place the boxes on the crate once I was done.

Simple right? The only problem was that it was

  1. Night shift from 8.30pm to 8.30pm (in theory)
  2. The repetition was boring
  3. The people around me couldn't speak proper english
  4. The break was like only 15 mins for every 5 hours! Hello?!

I was telling Faizal at the 12am break that I wanted to quit after 3 days cause it was the minimum days that we had to work before we got our pay. At 12am, he was saying "I think I wanna work for about a week until the next payday." Right. At 4am, while working at my station, I looked up to see Gerarrd and Faizal waving frantically at me to go toilet with them. Once inside, they filled me in on their grouses and frustration and their plan to leave. The opportunity finally came! So we went to the security guard at the entrance to get our ICs back and he was sleeping like a pig. It took a few shouts and prods before he finally woke up and returned our ICs. Timecheck? It was about 4.30am and we were lost deep in Changi industrial park with no means of transport. Our solution? We each choosed a directed and played games to decide the winnder and thus whom to follow. As Providence decreed, Faizal won and it was thankfully the right way out. Once we reached the main road after 45 mins of walking, we wasted no time in hailing a cab and proceeding to Bedok hawker centre for refreshing drinks and food. That, as we all agreed, was one of the worst experience of our lives.

Wednesday

Had dinner and chilled out with the class guys and ICS people at bugis. Thankfully Howard was there and we managed to convince him to treat us to a session of LAN gaming while waiting for Amir to arrive. After a nice long debate on where to eat, I brought them to Samar's where in the words of Geven, was "damn power". The food sucked and was expensive but the main attraction was the "stuff" there. Haha. All I can say that it was damn hilarious. Me, Geven, Gerarrd, Faizal and Nesh were the last to leave and that was at the insistance of Faizal. T'was great.

Thursday

Went for the tution job at CCK as referred to by our very own she-male Zaf, and it was rather Ok as compared to the dreaded factory job. Basically, my job revolves around being nice to kids, listening to them read, teaching them to do stuff that they don't understand/know, recording their performance and most significantly, mark mark mark. The people there are quite nice so it makes for a much better work environment. The pay might not be much, but hey its a job! So a big shoutout goes to ZAMZAM for her/his help. Oh and Faizal will be joining me on the 26th of this month. Tried to get for Gerarrd too but they were looking for people to teach Chinese. :(

2006!

Another year passes before us again. 2005 was indeed a radiant and memorable year. With that said, I realised I have not made any new year resolutions. Ok lets make a list now.

  • Get my six pack before NS
  • Get a job before NS
  • Give my darnest best for NS
  • Be more pious i.e. not missing prayers and sinning
  • Be more patient and learn to control my temper
  • Buy an X-box 360
  • Talk to ALL my friends more often
  • Upgrade the graphics card of my com and maybe the RAM too
  • Read the entire series of Rich Dad, Poor Dad
  • Start investing

Coming to think of it, I did manage to achieve most of my aims in 2005. Cheers!
